IFAA PRO ARCHERY SERIES- MULLENBORN (GERMANY)
The 2nd leg of the 2012 Pro Archery Series was held mid June in the German town Mullenborn, near Gerolstein Germany.
The 56 top field archers from all over the world were pushed to their limits the first day of competition. The never ending rain, strong cold wind on occassion and temperatures to low for summer time made a very demanding hard field course even trickier. After the first day (28 targets, 4 arrows per target) the leader in the women's division was Anne Lantee having a very strong lead of 5 points in front of Ivana Buden and 8 points over Camilla Soemod. On the men's leader bord two names detached with 4-5 points over the rest: Slavko Turšič and Liam Grimwood.
The 2nd day we had an opportunity to finally see some sun and get dry after all the rain the first day. Even if the weather conditions were stabile and very good on Sunday the competition was not resolved until the very last arrow in both of the categories. Very long and steep shots (between 25 and 40 degrees) through the whole day reduced the difference on the top ofthe leader board to only one or two points so the competition was resolved on a 20 yard, 40 degrees uphill bunny shot. Direct sunlight just over the target and the steepness made it very tricky to shoot. The winners after a long weekend were Slavko Turšič (followed by Liam Grimwood and Andre Grawinkel) and Anne Lantee (followed by Ivana Buden and Camilla Soemod).
